A day to stay at home (kinda)
It was a planned day off to spend with the girls since there was a random day with no school. But, I got the day wrong with Michaela which bummed me out. So, it was just Megan and me. Those days are rare so I was happy all the same.
First, we slept in. It was great especially since the clocks moved forward an hour this past weekend and I stayed up late on Sunday night. I woke up at 8:30 and Megan about 45 minutes later. We baked muffins. I swear the cheap little blue & white box of Jiffy muffin mix has got to be the best deal out there. Well, maybe next to Kraft Macaroni & Cheese. You seriously can't go wrong with either of those. We made raspberry and they were delicious! Megan wanted to play restaurant. Ok, this is one of the cutest things she does and I love that she uses her imagination. She pretends to take my order. I ask if there are any specials today and she tells me Chicken Stars Magic Soup. It must be my lucky day because that sounds delightful! Then she goes to her restaurant kitchen (aka, the bedroom down the hall - last one on the left) and comes back to announce that they are all out. I was disappointed but ordered eggs and hashbrowns instead. She came back with a tray full of items. Mmmm mmmm good! (see pic above for my goodies!)
Then we went to the library. I love the public library. I have since I was a little girl. I loved going to the Wyandotte Bacon Memorial Library and coming home with a stack of books - thanks for the memories! (I'll have to blog about that one day) I always love the smell of the books and strolling through the aisles to find a random spine that I can pull out and see what is so interesting about that one. It's like shopping for shoes. You have to look at every pair and occasionally you may stop to try one on. There is such joy knowing I can get something without having to pay for it, too. We sat and read books in the children's area and picked out four to take home. It is so rewarding to listen to my child read. I am so proud to see the progress she has made this year!
We also went to Burger King for lunch per Megan's request. Not my first or tenth choice but it made her happy. She even put on a crown. Those are the moments that make eating a Whopper Jr. ok in my world.
We went to the dollar store, too. I didn't need anything - it just happens to be another one of those places that is fun for Megan and she can take something home without breaking her Mother's pocketbook. ;)
I capped off the day with a trip to the laundromat. Fun, right? Haha. I needed to wash those big comforters and quilts that so would not fit in my home machine. I did get to read a bit and I love the smell of clean laundry, so I was fine with it. And it feels so good to have that done!
This weekend is busy so hopefully I can stop in and share more. It felt really good to let my camera tag along and capture our special "stay at home" day.

That sounds wonderful. I love spending time with each of my kids seperately. Even if its doing chores and errands they seem to enjoy it more (and so do I) when its just the two of us.
I am glad to see everything is going well.
